ABOUT THE CREATOR: STEVE TE TAI

It might be important to some to know that Kings of the Ring was created and written by someone in the business, who’s been in a ring and taken the bumps. My background is in wrestling and screenwriting. I’ve been in the wrestling business since 1995 where I worked as a promoter’s assistant for a local indie group in Wisconsin.
Since then I’ve done nearly everything from wrestling, managing, promoting shows and tours, doing commentary, setting up rings, selling sponsorships, producing, editing, and directing live TV and video, website management and writing, and talent recruitment, with the bulk of my career working at different times for WWE Hall of Famer Afa the Wild Samoan and WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett. But my primary goal and function in wrestling was that of a booker, matchmaker, or Creative. At age 23 I was named booker for Afa’s WXW promotion out of the Tri-State area, where I stayed for many years and was fortunate to work alongside a young Batista, the Rock, and on shows with so many of the 80’s legends such as “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, the Bushwhackers, Jim Cornette, Nikolai Volkoff, the Headshrinkers, Tony Atlas, and the Wild Samoans to name a few.

In the early 2000’s I took a hiatus from wrestling and moved to the West Coast to pursue a career in screenwriting for TV and the movies, and in my sparetime was a regular contributor to Dave Meltzer’s Wreslting Observer Newsletter website covering topics surrounding wrestling and MMA.
When Jeff Jarrett formed Global Force Wrestling in 2014, I was able to return to the wrestling business, and contribute to its growth along with extensive writing for the promotion of New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 9.
And now my experience and passion for writing and the wrestling business have converged perfectly in the creation of Kings of the Ring, which I hope you will enjoy.
